Why Hindu Gods are so violent and armed?
I always wondered forever. When any foreigner looks at the images of Hindu Gods for the first time, what they must be thinking about Hindus and our religion?
Here is my take on this topic
Ancient Indians never used arms or attacked any country to grab their land or killed people to convert them into Hinduism.Then how come this religion reached so many countries thousands of kilo meters away from our India? What is the secret? Why Indians have built so many amazing architecturally marvelous temples in thousands all over the world? Were they so rich to spend wealth on this activity? or they had enough leisure time?
HERE IS THE REAL ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION OF ARMED GODS.
They had both.Their eternal Sanatan Hindu culture blessed them with wisdom, intelligence, hard work, spirituality, research in every field of life to make Humanity prosperous and peaceful.Their quest for knowledge, manufacturing and trading made it the world's largest economy till 18th century.
KILLING FOR SELFISH GAINS NEVER ENTERED THEIR THOUGHT PROCESS.
They remained as the world's most peaceful and prosperous nation for centuries.
Saints and spiritual leaders traveled all across the world to spread the message of Advaita and Vasudhaiva kutumbakam" . Peace, brotherhood and prosperity of the entire mankind was the main goal. It reached many countries because those ancient people were not as politicized as they are now.They simply accepted Hinduism and embraced it for i's sheer love and attitude towards anyone who wished to learn more about it and fell in love with its basic universal philosophy of love.They never converted people with religious book in one hand and sword in another which is hallmark of Christianity and Islam.Can anyone deny it?
Ancient Indians were involved in a quest to know more about life and it's purpose.Every divergent view had a place in the discussion and no was killed for his or her completely opposite view of the life or God.Every thought has it's place in Indian spiritualism.
Violence and killings was a far fetched and totally unaccepted idea. Peace and quest for true knowledge remained the basic DNA of ancient Indian ( Hindu) civilization
When things started changing for worst with political propaganda of various religions and tyrants who were hell bent on killings and conversions, what do you expect from a peace loving civilization? They were totally incapable of taking up arms and getting violent to kill people?
The only option that remained for Hindus as the last resort was to pray to their god to protect people and destroy demons of all kinds. Noble kings and wealthy citizen encouraged creative Artists and artisans to create savior images of Gods with so many arms in their hands so that demons could be killed by Gods and people were not interested in killing anyone.
Probable prayer was " OH GOD-DESTROY THESE DEMONS- WE ARE PEACE LOVING PEOPLE- WE CAN NOT TAKE UP ARMS-PLEASE KILL THE DEMONS

It is high time for all Hindus to wake up and say it proudly that "I AM A HINDU AND I AM PROUD OF IT" The whole world is realizing the importance of ancient Indian philosophy which is fundamentally a HINDU PHILOSOPHY FOR MANKIND.Contribution of Christians and Muslims in various aspects of life has been appreciated all along.Spirituality is an arena which is purely Hindu and that must be appreciated by all with open heart. WHAT IS THE REAL ESSENCE OF ANCIENT INDIAN PHILOSOPHY? You are at the center stage.Hundreds of holy books, thousands of saints and millions of God are at your service. Accept God or denounce it or You can even say “I am God”. Everything is fine.There is no one to punish you.It understands that Human spirit is free and will never accept any control.No book or prophet or God can control Human spirit. You are the judge and you are the witness.You are the complainant and you are the victim seeking justice.You are alone and no one is watching you.Now deliver the justice.It is all about you and not any God.You need to do everything yourself.No God is going to help you Go to any temple or mosque or any church wherever you find peace. No one is going to dictate you and force you to do anything.It just shows you direction.If you wish,create your own path to find your own God residing in you.This is basically your own search to find yourself and the higher purpose that you may think is the right purpose. Freedom of Human spirit is at the centre stage and not any God or prophet
